Steamfitters Local 601 is seeking experienced welders for their new Accelerated Welding Program. If you have prior welding experience and a desire to take your career to the next level, the Accelerated Welding Program could be right for you! The demand for welders with up-to-date skills has never been higher and has created additional career opportunities for individuals who possess these skills. In order to meet the market demand and assist contractors with filling their needs for experienced welders, Steamfitters Local 601 has developed an Accelerated Welding Program. The Accelerated Welding Program is an 18-week training program that offers pipe welding certification training to earn the highest-level certifications available for welders in the piping industry. Trainees learn the trade through three structured training opportunities:
  • Unpaid Welding Instruction (Techniques & Certifications)
    • 18 weeks, Monday-Friday
      • Individuals who successfully complete this portion of the Accelerated Welding Program will gain the skills to perform production, maintenance, and repair welding within the manufacturing and construction industries
  • On-the-Job Training (Applied Education)
  • Unpaid Related Instruction (Theory & Fundamentals)
    • Night School Education
      • Individuals who successfully complete this portion of the Accelerated Welding Program will gain the skills and status of a Building Trades Journey-level Steamfitter

Who Can Apply?

Minimum Requirements:

  1. 18 years of age
  2. High School Transcript or equivalent
  3. Valid Driver’s License
  4. Prior welding experience within the last three years
Required Competencies:
  1. Demonstrate a commitment to safety
  2. Strong basic math and communication skills
  3. Ability and desire to continually learn
  4. Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail
